NEW: Maggie Rogers - Don’t Forget Me (2024)
It’s not super often you can call an act ‘flexible’, but Maggie Rogers might be it - the indie pop songstress has toured with rockers Haim, country star Kacey Musgraves, and whatever Mumford & Sons are these days, in addition to playing Glasto, Coachella and Lollapalooza.
Don’t Forget Me is Rogers’ third album overall, and finds the singer wielding her vulnerability as a weapon, writing songs that explore her relationships with family and fame, all wrapped inside this fun, 80s-inspired pop style, occasionally veering into folk or rock.
Second song “Drunk” is the first major highlight here, while indie-rock-pop “The Kill” has a bit of Haim about it and might be my favourite here. Rogers excels when she strips her sound back too; mid-album highlight “I Still Do” finds her accompanied by just a piano, while meditative “All The Same” is mere guitar and vocal with occasional piano spritzs.
A really good album.
